the nation,” by The Vietnam Vets Association, this timely script, written by Shirley Lauro, and suggested by Keith Walker’s book of the same title, shares the lesser-known true stories of the women who served in the Vietnam War, and follows six female veterans throughout their enlistment, tour of duty and their return home.

SPECIAL TALK-BACK EVENTS!

size0Following the Thursday and Friday Evening performances of A Piece of My Heart, we will have a talkback with Dr. Doris Lucki Allen, the woman who inspired the character of Steele in the show. She will speak after the play and answer questions.

Doris I. “Lucki” Allen has had a long and successful career in the fields of organizational development and interpersonal communications. The highly decorated former Army Officer served three tours in Vietnam (1967-1970) and was inducted into the US Military Intelligence Corps Hall of Fame. Dr. Allen is a graduate of Tuskegee University (Institute) BS ’49, Ball State University MS ’76 and the Wright Institute PhD ’86. She retired as a CW3 after serving 30 years in the US Army. Her merits include 3 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
