CHARACTERS:

BERNARD: 30’s - 40’s  An intellectual.  Can’t resist a beautiful woman. He is having an affair.

JACQUELINE: Around BERNARD’S age.  She is BERNARD’S wife, but hardly a victim.

ROBERT: 30’s – 40’s  BERNARD’S best friend and best man at his wedding.  Well-traveled, well-mannered, well dressed.  He is sleeping with BERNARD’S wife:  JACQUELINE.

SUZANNE: 20’s – 30’s Model, aspiring actress, spoiled.  Not good at much besides looking pretty and spending money.  She is BERNARD’S mistress.

SUZETTE: 20’s – 30’s traveling gourmet chef.  Smart and industrial, could even be called cunning.  Able to think on the fly and always thinks of herself first.

GEORGE: Older than SUZETTE.  He is SUZETTE’s husband and a cook as well.  A big, physical presence, GEORGE is very protective of SUZETTE and very suspicious of everyone else.

The Story:

Bernard is planning a weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in a French farmhouse. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, is packing his wife Jacqueline off to her mother's, and has even invited his best friend to provide the alibi. It's foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Suppose Robert turns up not knowing why he has been invited? Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers? What happens if the cook is mistaken for the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook? An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.
