North Coast Repertory Theatre now casting
'The Underpants'
Adapted by Steve Martin
from Die Hose by Carl Sternheim
Directed by Mark Pinter
Steve Martin's adaptation of the 1910 German farce, Die Hose by
the German playwright Carl Sternheim. This "ribald, satirical, self-
referential and quirky" play was Sternheim's comment on the snobbery
and conformity of the bourgeois.

Seeking: Actors adept at physical comedy and farce.
AEA and non-union roles available:
THEO MASKE - 30's to 40's, a big, burly fireplug of a man with a buzz
cut. An officious, petty, puritanical bureaucrat.
LOUISE MASKE - mid 20's, Theo's wife. A knock-out, very pretty,
sweet and impossibly innocent.
GERTRUDE DEUTER - early 40's – very curvy, a busybody and
confidante to Louise. Earthy and sex-starved.
FRANK VERSATI - 30's early 40's – an amorous, elegant, yet
buffoonish gentleman-poet – Also plays THE KING –
pompous and royal.
BENJAMIN COHEN - 40's – a hypochondriacal barber, thin and
asthmatic.
