North Coast Repertory Theatre proudly announces the establishment of the Jonathan McMurtry Actors’ Fund. As a working actor himself, Jonathan wants to give back by lending his name to this important fund to ensure that all the proceeds will be earmarked to pay the salaries of professional actors at North Coast Repertory Theatre. The fund has been established, and donations are being accepted now. An event to congratulate and honor Jonathan McMurtry will be held on Monday, February 4th (at a place to be determined), so save the date! The community is asked to make donations to support the work of Jonathan and actors like him by contributing to North Coast Rep–JMAF today, so audiences may enjoy their work for years to come!
Jonathan McMurtryJonathan McMurtry has appeared in over a dozen productions at North Coast Rep. He has worked with us every season since 2005 including main stage shows, play reading events, and co-productions at Mira Costa College, where he has helped mentor future actors. Jonathan is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He has a half century affiliation at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre where he is an “Associate Artist”, with over 200 productions to his credit. He has coached Shakespeare for the Old Globe’s MFA program and has performed in all of Shakespeare’s 37 plays. Among his many acting awards, Jonathan especially treasures the 2008 “Craig Noel Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre Award.” He has appeared in leading roles at major Regional Theatres across the U.S. and Canada. Films include: Beautiful Joe with Sharon Stone, Best Laid Plans with Reese Witherspoon, Little Nikita with Sydney Poitier, and Point Blank with Lee Marvin (to name a few). TV credits include: Guest-starring roles on Cheers, Frazier, Almost Perfect, Eli Stone, and most recently, Modern Family. Jonathan lives in Vista, California, with his beloved wife, Terri and their amazing daughter, Coral.
