Playwright Jeffrey Hatcher has conceived a masterful scenario in which three men claim to be the missing Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is called upon to do some sleuthing. Prepare yourself for a fast-paced, thrilling, suspenseful story that will keep you guessing. This West Coast premiere is a very worthy addition to the Sherlock Holmes canon and will challenge the most astute mystery buff.

At NCRT, artistic chief David Ellenstein directs the piece with a rich sense of atmosphere, capturing the chills and dry-as-sherry wit that courses through Hatcher’s work. Ellenstein’s seven-member cast also makes the play feel convincingly in-tune with the Conan Doyle universe, and manages to keep us guessing nonstop about their characters’ backgrounds and motives…I’ll bet a full house of Holmeses you won’t see where this is going.

The show, which runs through November 18th, is a fast-paced, quick-witted guessing game. The clues are subtle and the dialogue, provocative. Just when you think you’ve gotten it figured out, a character will throw in a monkey wrench or a smoke rocket, as it were, and you’re back to scratching your head and wishing you had Dr. John Watson’s notebooks filled with his ‘accounts’.
