This is one fun, surprising and smartly crafted show. At NCRT, artistic chief David Ellenstein directs the piece with a rich sense of atmosphere, capturing the chills and dry-as-sherry wit that courses through Hatcher’s work. Ellenstein’s seven-member cast also makes the play feel convincingly in-tune with the Conan Doyle universe, and manages to keep us guessing nonstop about their characters’ backgrounds and motives…I’ll bet a full house of Holmeses you won’t see where this is going.

North Coast Rep's latest play, ‘Holmes & Watson’, is a cleverly written, intricate, plot-twisting mystery Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be proud of.
-The Vista Press, TR Robertson
If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his devilishly clever, pipe-smoking, violin-playing, sleuth then "Holmes & Watson", at NCRT is definitely the play for you. The cast is a knockout ensemble of top pro. It's not a case of whodunit? but how the 'dunit' was done! Mystery fans will love.
-Desert Local News, Jack Lyons
Devilishly clever, deftly directed, delightfully acted. Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for more twists and turns than a freeway detou.

A fun-filled ‘whodunnit’ with more twists than a pretzel.

The show, which runs through November 18th, is a fast-paced, quick-witted guessing game. The clues are subtle and the dialogue, provocative. Just when you think you’ve gotten it figured out, a character will throw in a monkey wrench or a smoke rocket, as it were, and you’re back to scratching your head and wishing you had Dr. John Watson’s notebooks filled with his ‘accounts’.
- Jewish World, Eva Trieger
The suspenseful thriller, HOLMES AND WATSON, is a highly theatrical piece that challenges the intellect while it toys with the imagination. Under the astute direction of David Ellenstein at North Coast Rep, a solid cast of true professionals gives 100% to the creation of characters that hold you in their grip until the final blackout.
- San Diego Reader, Larry Steckling
Hatcher’s mystery is a head scratcher from start to finish and clever to boot. Hatcher’s story, under the deft direction of artistic director David Ellenstein who seems to relish in this type fun, makes “Holmes & Watson” a pleasant and aha gift to NCR’s patrons. As usual North Coast has a top notch and diversified cast and crew, to pull off this mystery caper.

Everybody loves a good mystery. Here’s one that’s more than fun to watch – you’ll never see the solution coming.

This play will keep even the most avid fan guessing till the end ... filled with twists. If you think you have it, guess again. This is the mystery you should not miss. Best thriller I've seen this year!.
